How can we help you today?

Why do my emails get bounced back?

When you are sending emails via our server using your domain email address, then the recipient's email provider will often check that the email is coming from somewhere that is a valid address. They do this by checking the SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record.

If you are using emails using your domain address, then we would strongly recommend adding an SPF record to your DNS settings, this enables email providers to verify that your domain is permitted to send emails via our server. – a:smtpweb.uk.endis.com is our preferred entry for SPF records. We undertake to ensure that this record is pointing at whichever of our servers is sending mail.

This should be added to whatever other details your domain manager recommends. If they don't recommend anything particular then we would suggest adding the following as a TXT record will be adequate:
v=spf1 mx a:smtpweb.uk.endis.com ~all
N.B. On a site on the US server this should be: v=spf1 mx a:smtpweb.us.endis.com ~all

If you are using Google Apps for your email you should add:
v=spf1 a:smtpweb.uk.endis.com include:_spf.google.com ~all
N.B. On a site on the US server this should be: v=spf1 a:smtpweb.us.endis.com include:_spf.google.com ~all

If you are using Outlook for your emails we would recommend:
v=spf1 a:smtpweb.uk.endis.com include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all
N.B. On a site on the US server this should be: v=spf1 a:smtpweb.us.endis.com include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all

You should only have one SPF record, more than one renders them invalid. If you need a more bespoke SPF record you can use a tool that will generate a record for you here: https://spfwizard.com

If you want to check your record has passed the validation you can check here: http://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html

You will not be able to set up an SPF record if you are using a non-domain email address, you can't for example, verify a Gmail or Hotmail email address, it must be an email address where you have access the the DNS settings for the domain. If you are using a non domain email address we would recommend that you only set this as the 'REPLY TO' address and use a noreply@hubb.church email address as the 'SENT FROM' email address. This will enable emails to be delivered and any replies will go to the 'REPLY TO' address.
